Elizabeth Paul - Voice of Reason

Elizabeth Paul is running for Washington County Commissioner in the 2018 election.

Having grown up in the southern part of the county near Gapland and graduating from Boonsboro High School, Elizabeth knows that Washington County is a unique and vibrant area with wonderful natural resources, a rich history, and generous community-oriented residents. She believes Washington County can again become the economically successful area it once was while still maintaining its important agricultural roots, protecting its historical resources, and safeguarding its natural beauty.

As a public school teacher of more than 20 years, she understands the importance of high-quality education as well as job opportunities and economic growth. Elizabeth has a proven track record of bipartisanship, ethical leadership, and community involvement. She is committed to working for the best interests of Washington County residents. Elizabeth will provide a voice of reason, transparency, and ethical leadership as a County Commissioner.

» Worked on the Presidential Commission on the HIV Epidemic under President Ronald Reagan.

» Endorsed by Women at the Table, a bipartisan PAC to support getting more local, qualified women elected and appointed to government bodies.

» Social member, Community Volunteer Fire Department, District 12, Fairplay.

» Public school teacher for 21 years, including 11 years at Frederick County’s alternative middle/high school for students with significant behavioral challenges. Currently a middle school science teacher in Frederick.

Determined – Her Plans as Your Commissioner:

» Re-establish transparency and ethical leadership in our county government.

» Tackle complex fire and rescue issues as the system nears collapse. Volunteer companies can no longer recruit or fundraise at the levels required to keep up with current demands, especially for EMTs/paramedics.

» Address inadequate funding of our public school system so that every child has opportunities to succeed.

» Promote and support our agricultural community.

» Encourage and support our current local businesses while recruiting new businesses through public-private partnerships.

» Encourage our tourism industry with further growth.

» Work hard as a public servant
